After much careful thought, Anthony and I have made the decision to close the grocery side of Matters of Taste. Our final deliveries went out at the end of May 2025.
Like many in WA’s fresh food industry, we’ve felt the growing pressures - tight margins, supply chain hiccups, and the regular interruptions that come with public holidays. We’ve reached a point where delivering the level of service we’re proud of simply isn’t realistic.
While the grocery chapter is coming to a close, our commitment to showcasing Western Australian food is only growing.
FOOD TOURS - We’re doubling down on our food tour range. With support from Tourism WA we’ll be providing travel opportunities right arounds our state showcasing local food, incredible stories and the passionate people who grow and make what we eat.
PODCAST - Additionally, in the second half of the year I’m teaming up with a well-known local food ambassador to put together a WA-focused food podcast. This will be a fresh way for you to connect - offering a platform for relevant local news, engaging guests, and thoughtful, insightful conversations about what really matters in WA’s food world.
ONLINE COOKING SCHOOL - This change in MOT’s structure also means we can give more attention to our online cooking platform, The Cooks Collective, and continue to grow it into an even more valuable resource.
OUT AND ABOUT CLASSES A fresh new format is on the horizon, with pop-up cooking classes in a variety of venues. Stay tuned - we’ll share more details soon.
We’re truly grateful for all the support from our regular shoppers for WA producers and makers - it’s been a real pleasure supplying you with some of WA’s finest fresh food. A special thanks to those who’ve taken the time to write and share how much you’ve enjoyed the service over the past six years. We’ve loved hearing from you.
Our Dishing it up! newsletter will now land in your inbox monthly - still brimming with the local food stories you love, delicious recipes, food tour details, and cooking class updates. Just a little less often, but still full of flavour. Make sure you’re subscribed.
Here’s to the next chapter of Matters of Taste - bringing you stories and experiences that are meaningful, useful, and in step with our connection to food in a changing world. We can’t wait to share what’s next.
