What's in store on this food tour adventure

The Food

The Food

London’s food scene is bold and cosmopolitan’ from historic markets to cutting-edge kitchens and global flavours that define the city today. The Cotswolds is a true food lover’s destination, where organic farms, traditional pubs and thoughtful restaurants celebrate outstanding local produce. Southern Ireland’s food culture rests on sustainable farming and artisan producers, with renowned farmhouse cheeses and chefs blending tradition with contemporary flair. From this remarkable mix, we’ve handpicked a vibrant collection of experiences, guiding you straight to the places that truly matter.

The People

The People

Along the way, you’ll meet some truly remarkable people. From Jekka McVicar – the Queen of Herbs a highly awarded and entertaining horticulturalist, to Darina Allen, Ireland’s national culinary treasure and founder of the world-famous Ballymaloe Cookery School. Time spent with pioneering Irish dairy producers will be enlightening, plenty of characters proudly displaying eye-watering arrays of seasonal produce at city and rural markets. We’ll eat dishes created by celebrated household names and, just as importantly, share conversations with locals everywhere we go.

The Place

The Place

We’ll travel through some of the most beautiful countryside in Ireland and the Cotswolds; winding along hedgerow lanes, passing rolling green fields and pausing in villages where you can feel the history. There are rugged coastlines, quiet rural roads and ever-changing views. Crossing the Irish Sea by ferry adds a little sense of adventure, and seeing London from the River Thames gives you a completely different city  perspective. Early summer is a glorious time to visit. The days are long, the evenings linger in soft light, and everything feels open and alive. Parks in London are lush and inviting, and in rural areas the countryside is at its vibrant best.

If you’d like to arrive early or stay on afterwards, there’s always more to explore, but within these twelve days, you can settle in, relax and simply enjoy the ride. We’ll take care of the rest.

Travelling as a small group of just 14 guests allows for a  personal experience, one where conversations unfold naturally, questions are welcomed, and lasting connections are made.

“As I said, when asked at the beginning, that I had no specific expectations of the tour, just an underlying belief in you. Silly trait I have, to avoid  disappointment. Well, there was certainly no disappointment to avoid.

Every activity you scheduled was a total winner – the best of a marvellous lot was, for me, Jekka. Wow.

There were so many taste treats, so many that I had that I would never have ordered from a menu but turned out to be incredible.

Just an aside, I felt totally safe that, wherever, whatever, whenever, Matters of Taste would be there and get us there.

And our lovely lovely group – did you hand pick us for our cheerful witty dispositions? Such fun.

I would recommend a Matters of Taste tour to anyone and everyone as a way to not only broaden your waistline elegantly, but also your mind.

I had a smashing time. Thank you, thank you. “

“I really enjoyed getting behind the scenes with insider knowledge.  The passionate makers and producers: Jekka Queen of Herbs, Peter the cheese nerd, Celia at Borough Market and Oliver doing his last tour at Fortnum and Mason.  The visit to the Shard for drinks was also great and less hassle than I expected. Having Amanda with local knowledge was really useful. Looking forward to the next exciting MOT adventure.”

“I especially loved the passionate growers, makers and producers we met on the tour and the behind the scenes visits. Jekka was a standout, as was Peter the cheesemaker. So many really – Celia at the Market, the Moo Man, Oliver at Fortnum and Mason. I think it was the people that made it come alive. The Farmer’s Dog pub was a nice surprise – the food was great as was the outlook. We had a great variety of food, on the tour, all was delicious. Well done on the choices amongst so many options and the group really came together. Overall, thoroughly enjoyed the trip.”
