Perth City Limits Food Tour - Morning Bounty

A 6-hour morning of food adventures.

Exceptional food experience, like no other in Perth. Small group food tour - maximum of 12 people. Scheduled on multiple dates throughout the year.

The early start is absolutely worth it. Morning Bounty takes you inside Perth’s food world while most of the city is still waking up, beginning on the trading floor of the bustling wholesale fruit and vegetable market. Surrounded by seasonal WA produce and the people responsible for moving it from farms across the state to our tables, you’ll see a remarkable part of our food supply in action. From there, the morning unfolds through some of our favourite food discoveries – breakfast, artisan chocolate, a much-loved family butcher and a final taste of WA wine. It’s privileged access to a side of Perth’s food story few people ever get to experience.

The Day

The Day

Wholesale Produce Market – Step onto the bustling trading floor with rare behind-the-scenes access. Meet wholesalers, taste seasonal WA produce and see the market in action. Breakfast – Settle into a retro neighbourhood café for a well-earned brekky. Chocolatier – Meet the maker and taste exquisite handmade chocolates. Family Butcher – Go behind the counter of one of Perth’s favourite butcher shops. Sommelier-Hosted Wine Tasting – Finish with a guided tasting of WA wines accompanied by a charcuterie board made next door. This day provides insightful conversations you probably wouldn’t have  visiting these places on your own.

The People

The People

Meet some of the people who make Perth’s food world tick, beginning with the market CEO and knowledgeable wholesalers who’ll take you inside the workings of the busy trading floor. Their connection to growers across WA gives you a fascinating understanding of just how much happens before fresh produce reaches the places where we shop and eat. As the morning continues, meet a young chef bringing his own personality to breakfast, a talented chocolatier creating beautiful handmade treats and the third generation of a much-loved Perth butchering family. Finish in the company of a knowledgeable sommelier who knows his local drinks and loves sharing them.

The Food

The Food

Start surrounded by an extraordinary abundance of seasonal fruit and vegetables grown across WA, tasting produce at its freshest and discovering what’s particularly good right now. Then it’s time for a well-earned breakfast at a retro neighbourhood café before moving on to jewel-like handmade chocolates created just metres from where you’ll taste them. Later, peek inside one of Perth’s favourite family butcher shops before settling in for a sommelier-hosted wine tasting accompanied by housemade charcuterie from next door. The morning is a delicious reminder of just how much exceptional food and drink we have right here in WA.

What people are saying about our food tours

“It was a fabulous day.   I am not a chef.  Nor am I a cook.  But, for me this was an amazing experience.  It was a sheer delight to see and hear from such dedicated and professional creators of find foods with so much passion and commitment for their art.  I loved every moment of the day and learnt so much about what talent is available in our own backyard in Perth…”

“Thank you both for an excellent day. I loved it all.

Your vehicle allows a great view (and not just Fremantle traffic!) and the businesses we visited obviously have a very good relationship with you as the time, management put into talking to us, was very impressive.

A great day and great value for money.”

“It’s like being an undercover spy entering into the subculture of the clandestine chefs of Perth.  Secret labs hidden in non-descript factory units making pasta from Italian flour. Another place disguised as a suburban garden shed crafting world class chocolates.  There is no other way we would know these places existed if it wasn’t for the MOT tours.”

Congratulations to ‘Matters of Taste’ on their one-day South of the River experience.

It was an absolute pleasure to visit the makers and producers of some of local foods which we purchase regularly, and to see the skills used which enable such products to be made.

The presentation by Team Leaders (and owners) Tracey and Anthony was very professional. The coach/bus/truck? was extremely comfortable, and with its 4- wheel drive structure could go anywhere, anytime, all with great viewing!

Helloworld Travel Melville, as a close local retail business, is delighted to recommend ‘Matters of Taste’, and suggest you look at some of their other local tours, as well as the interstate and international food experiences offered.
