Autumn Farm Tour - Southern Forests Western Australia

Friday 6th to Sunday 8th March 2026

Immerse yourself in a world of flavour and food. Join us to unearth the fascinating and often-hidden rural life of primary producers in Manjimup and Pemberton.

For well over a decade, Anthony and I have been guiding travellers into the Southern Forests, building deep connections with the people who grow, craft and care for this region’s food. With rare behind-the-farm-gate access, guests are often surprised by just how much they learn on the land itself—moments of insight that spark curiosity, deepen appreciation and leave many seeing food in a whole new way, all shared over generous meals and warm conversation.

The Growers and Makers

The Growers and Makers

Behind every bite of great food is someone who grew it with care. On our Southern Forests tour, you’ll meet people who are real Australian heroes -farmers, producers and innovators dedicated to working with the land, not against it. From regenerative growers to best practice beef farmers and visionary bakers, each has a powerful story to share. These are the people shaping the future of food, and you’ll get to hear their stories firsthand.

Warmth and Country Charm

Warmth and Country Charm

Not many get the chance to step behind the scenes, but on this tour, farmers happily open their gates and lives to us. We’re welcomed onto private properties, into sheds and kitchens, and even to dinner tables overlooking orchards and lakes. The Southern Forests region is breathtaking – rolling hills, towering karri forests, fresh breezes and clear skies. Combined with the warmth of the people we meet, it’s a place that leaves a lasting impression.

From the Source, With Skill

From the Source, With Skill

This is food at its most authentic – straight from the source and prepared with the kind of care that only comes from understanding its origins. We share thoughtfully cooked meals in rustic shearing sheds, eat sourdough made from spent malt, and feast on nutrient-rich produce grown just metres from the table. Every dish is a celebration of season, place and skill, made all the more special because we know where it came from.

“Our tour to Manjimup was very eye opening for a number of reasons. Meeting the farmers, who all love and respect the land so dearly, was very special.  To see the young 3rd or 4th generation farmers who want to farm the land with modern knowledge yet respect for those who have farmed the land before them.  To enjoy wonderful meals each day at local restaurants where the ingredients were from paddock to plate was a real delight. The producers also instilled in us the ability to use the entire product to its best advantage. What we left with was a deep respect for the producers and a feeling of being more at one with the land.”
