A fascinating and unforgettable weekend journey into the heart of WA's truffle country. Picture yourself wrapped in beanies, scarves, and boots as we dig deep into the world’s most luxurious ingredient – the black winter truffle.
Our On the Hunt Truffle Food Discovery Tour takes place in the midst of the majestic Southern Forests, in WA’s very first truffle orchard. The culmination of our afternoon of truffle hunting in the fresh air is a fabulous, one-off private social evening event in one of the region’s most stunning vineyards. Mingle with fellow travellers and indulge in what will be a down-to-earth wine and food taste experience.
What's in store on this food adventure
The Food & Wine
Over the weekend you’ll eat a delightful array of food that showcases the best of local produce. From a warming lunch in a rustic farm shed, to a cooked-to-order breakfast, served with locally roasted coffee. Saturday evening Tracey teams with our favourite local food professional to prepare and serve a delicious multi-course truffle dinner. This isn’t about overly fancy dishes – it’s about showcasing how truffles can be used thoughtfully in food you want to eat and thoroughly enjoy.
Each dish is designed to let the truffle shine in its own way, paired with award-winning Pemberton wines and shared in good company.
The People
On this tour, you’ll have the rare chance to meet one of the pioneers behind the region’s truffle industry and, with the help of expert truffle dogs, experience the excitement of the hunt firsthand. You’ll learn how to judge quality and discover how truffles are prepared for sale.
But this journey isn’t just about producers and paddocks – it’s about people, too. Shared moments like unearthing your first truffle, tasting a particularly good drop of local wine, or swapping stories around the table naturally bring like-minded food lovers together. It’s easy conversation, relaxed company… and always something to talk about.
The Place
Nestled in the heart of the Southern Forests, the Manjimup region is a patchwork of rolling farmland, orchards, and tall karri forests; home to generations of growers who understand the rhythm of the seasons better than anyone.
It’s this temperate winter climate and the care taken by local truffle orchardists that has helped Manjimup earn a global reputation for growing some of the finest black winter truffles outside of Europe. Step into the world of truffle cultivation, where it’s more than a passion—it’s a way of life. This is truffle country, where good things take time, and every harvest reminds us why this region is so deeply respected.
