What's in store on this food adventure
The Food
Perth’s food story has been shaped by generations of migrants who brought treasured recipes, traditional skills and a passion for quality to Western Australia. On this journey you’ll discover authentic flavours from across Europe and Asia, from time-honoured family recipes to contemporary interpretations using exceptional local produce. Every tasting reflects a culture, a tradition and a commitment to craftsmanship that continues to enrich the way Perth eats today.
The People
The heart of this experience is the people you’ll meet. Hear a third-generation Italian butcher share his respect for the animal and the craft of butchery, discover the enduring influence of a Greek family that has helped shape Perth’s food landscape for generations, meet the second-generation owners of a much-loved Asian grocery business, and enjoy lunch where traditional noodles are still crafted using a bamboo pole rather than machines. These are the people, traditions and stories that make every bite more meaningful.
The Place
Centred around Perth’s CBD, Northbridge and neighbouring inner-city precincts, this tour explores the communities that have transformed our city into one of Australia’s most diverse food destinations. Hidden behind unassuming shopfronts and bustling streets are family businesses, specialist producers and passionate food pioneers who have quietly shaped Perth’s culinary identity. It’s a side of the city rarely seen by visitors, but one we’ll proudly introduce you to through the people who know it best.
