The Curious Cooks Event

Choose from Friday 11th or Saturday 12th September 2026

This is not a cooking class, and it is not a styling workshop. It is a relaxed, generous day for people who love food, cooking and the joy of sharing a beautiful table.

Enjoy a special day at The Kitchen Studio Perth with the Curious Cooks, Kate Flower and Tracey Cotterell. Our time will be well spent cooking together, tasting together, asking questions, swapping ideas, sharing stories and enjoying a beautiful meal around the table.

We won’t ask you to sit quietly and watch from the back of a classroom.

Instead, you’ll become part of the conversation. You will have the chance to stir a pot, baste a chicken, ask questions, watch closely, join in as much or as little as you like, and discover the small details that make food feel special.

Created for curious home cooks, food lovers and anyone who enjoys bringing people together through good food.

Book for 4 or more and receive $25.00 off each ticket. Use code CURIOUS4 during checkout.

The ingredients for a wonderful day

The Hosts

The Hosts

Kate Flower and Tracey Cotterell have spent decades helping people discover the joy of cooking, sharing food and gathering around the table.

Kate is one of Western Australia’s most respected food stylists, recipe developers and cookbook authors, while Tracey is a professionally trained chef, food advocate and educator who inspired thousands of home cooks through more than 25 years of running the Matters of Taste Cooking School.

Together they host The Curious Cooks which is a podcast to get us thinking about what’s on our plates and why it matters.

The Experience

The Experience

From the moment you arrive, you’ll be welcomed with freshly brewed coffee, tea and homemade baking before meeting the group and settling in for a relaxed day of cooking together.

Throughout the day we’ll share professional techniques, styling ideas, entertaining tips and plenty of practical know-how, while introducing you to some of our favourite local producers and artisan makers.

As the afternoon unfolds, we’ll gather around the table to enjoy a generous seasonal long lunch featuring the dishes we’ve created together, thoughtfully paired with Western Australian wines and great conversation.

The Place

The Place

Hosted at The Kitchen Studio Perth in East Fremantle, you’ll spend the day in Kate’s beautiful working studio kitchen—a creative space where recipes are developed, photographs are styled and good food is shared every day.

With just 16 guests, there’s plenty of opportunity to ask questions, get involved and enjoy a relaxed day with people who love good food as much as you do.
Warm, welcoming and thoughtfully designed, it will feel less like attending a class and more like being invited into a friend’s home.

The Food

Our menu celebrates the very best of Western Australian producers and changes with the seasons, allowing us to cook with the freshest ingredients available.

Throughout the day you’ll enjoy plenty of food including a beautifully prepared long lunch, artisan cheeses, handcrafted desserts, locally roasted coffee and thoughtfully selected Western Australian wines, while discovering the stories behind many of the producers whose products we love to use every day.
